Mr. Terrell, a native Floridian, completed his undergraduate studies at Florida State University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology. His award-winning essay entitled Unreasonable Search and Seizures earned him a full scholarship to the National Center for Paralegal Training. Thereafter, Mr. Terrell attended Nova Southeastern University School of Law and in 1995 began his career as a criminal defense attorney at the Broward County Public Defenders Office.

While an Assistant Public Defender, Mr. Terrell tried over 80 cases on the juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony levels. His cases involved complex crime scenes, forensics and regular offenses. In addition to his vast trial experience, Mr. Terrell wrote several appeals and writs, two of which became published opinions in Florida Law.  

After leaving the Public Defenders Office, Mr. Terrell opened a law practice in Ft. Lauderdale , and began perfecting his abilities in criminal defense litigation. Mr. Terrell expanded his practice to include Federal cases, Real Estate, and Mental Health cases including Baker Act and the Marchman Act. In January 2001, Mr. Terrell became a named partner in the firm of Shelowitz, Shelowitz & Terrell.  

In 2004, Mr. Terrell began using his criminal investigation experience in the area of Workers' Compensation Law to represent Insurance Companies and Self-Insured Employers and aggressively defends his clients against fraudulent claims. Mr. Terrell has created a Special Investigative Unit of attorneys, paralegals, investigators and adjusters trained specifically to litigate against fraudulent claims against insurance companies and employers.  The Special Investigative Unit operates to protect clients against being victimized in the many forms of insurance fraud and schemes as well as pursing criminal and civil penalties against persons found to have committed fraud.  

Mr. Terrell is a member of the Florida Bar, the Federal Bar for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Broward County Bar Association, the Broward County Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, the Inns of Court, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and holds an active Real Estate license.
